Hans and Faces

Hans Holbein's portraits of the Tudor court close the gap between these distant historical figures and people we would meet today; they are startlingly real people who sneeze, breathe, sit for a drawing and then blink and move off into history. That was the idea that I wanted to explore in this series.

And it was fun to show the Archbishop of Canterbury having a crafty ciggy.
